This is a like new machine, Elmo GS1200 TC, it's clean inside and out. It has all of the extras and and a vinyl case. This is a playback stereo only machine, fitted with a 5 blade shutter for Telecine work. The machine works perfectly, it has a 1.1 lens and I'll also include an extra lamp plus, a 1200' Elmo take up reel.

The price is $599

Am I correct that the GS 1200 uses xenon lamps?

TC stands for telecine? If so, wouldn't that create a dimmer picture?

Jack, the "common" GS1200 is fitted with an halogen lamp. Only the GS1200 Xenon model uses a xenon lamp.
The 5-blade shutter is meant to prevent flickering when transfering the projected image to video.

On the other side, with today frame to frame scanner as well as 24 fps video digital camera are available in the market at very affordable price, the 5 blade shutter does not give an added value. But still $599 for a GS1200 is a very good price!

Hi Jack, glad to see you on here and interested in Super 8, I think you will be very pleased with the format.

The picture on this unit is dimmer with the five blade shutter but, you can also put in a two or three blade shutter like these below:

http://www.ffr-film.de/index.php?page=elmo&language=eng

However, there is also a lamp setting (high and low) so, this machine is capable of doing transfers, for home projection with decent brightness, it's both optical and magnetic sound, with the magnetic switch allowing for stereo playback, 1200' capacity, etc..

Unfortunately, I will never really use it since, I'm hooked on my older Kodak's. I used it recently to show a very short reel of stereo cartoons but, I mostly collect silent films on Super 8, so this machine needs a home where it can be used daily or weekly.

A nice deal for someone out there that wants a solid projector! Probably one of the best models for playback, if it had the option to record, the value would be much much greater!

Act now and receive free U.S. shipping for a limited time only. If not sold here, I must move it along to ebay this weekend. International folks get a free film in their package instead of free shipping.
