New 3d printed hubs arrived yesterday from Van Eck. They are very very good replicas it has to said. They do only have a sintered brass bush bearing similar to the older model originals and somehow have a completely different texture to the plastic due to the 3d manufacturing process, but I am certain they will be every bit as serviceable as the originals and hopefully stronger still on the plastic spring grips in between the splines.
Anyhow, a really decent set of spares and now available for around £48 for a pair! That is a drastic saving compared to the originals with Wittners.
Well worth a try I would say at this price.
I doubt I will ever need to fit mine, but at least they are there now should I ever need them. I just wish I could source every other spare part out there for these machines at similarly cut down prices.
Ps, don't forget the Bauer Cam and Claw spares will also soon be made available by Edwin, great news I feel for all those who have newly acquired one of these fabulous machines.
Should anyone ever need these fitted here in the UK, I am more than capable when the time comes should members prefer not to do their own. If we all combine our knowledge, skills and services, these machines should outlast even our LPP prints! [ February 04, 2015, 05:07 AM: Message edited by: Andrew Woodcock ]

It ought not to Maurice, as I would only ever term them as a nice precise snug fit.
They are, after all, only plastic, and as you know all too well Maurice, people's only complaint of these in the past is that the plastic retaining spring clips in between the plastic splines ,became worn or in extreme cases of wear due to ill fitting reels, snapped off.
If these stay stronger for longer by virtue that the polymers used this time around have greater strength and elasticity, from where I am standing, this can only be a good thing.
Some large reel hubs such as Elmo only use one spline. As such the large reels fly onto their hubs very quickly and very easily as there is only one spline to align.
With these there are 3 splines as is the norm for most projectors, so it just takes a little more accuracy lining up the very large reels with the 3 splines on the hubs.once you do, they slide over the spring clips with a reassuring "clunk" as you would want them to. Then of course, all you ask, is that the large reels stay put throughout projecting and especially rewinding.
With these, I feel they will do just that, as well if not better than even the official Beaulieu ones on offer at Wittners do... over many hundreds of hours of use hopefully. [ February 05, 2015, 06:02 PM: Message edited by: Andrew Woodcock ]
