Hello Mark

Sadly they are nowhere to be seen these days - if you do find a source please let me know and Bill Parsons too as I recall he ran out of them recently.

Kevin

Living in Japan, I usually buy cheap untested ST-160s and salvage the white rollers from them.

I used them to modify the guides on my GS-1200s.

It ends up costing me around US $20 per machine. It's a great solution for me but now I have a stack of projectors in the corner that I want to get rid of.

Good luck and finding some over in the UK.

I have one sample bill sent to me some time back, but it got broken in the post so no use to you. It's an odd shape and the plastic is quite brittle, similar to the plastic on the guides of the elmo, you would need something like an acrylic plastic to make these, like the clear rods you can get in various sizes, and a cnc lathe to make them, would take minutes to make.

There have been some concerns regarding the surface texture for parts coming into contact with running film when using 3d printed parts.

So far at least, they do tend to be quite an abrasive texture.
I know Bill and others were waiting on second generation 3D parts using a,different Polymer size / structure from Edwin to see if these would fair a little better.

Edwin's parts do a fantastic job for us all when it comes to Drive side parts or any in fact any that do not come directly into contact with our films.

Mark I was not aware that bill had run out of these, or the fact that they are harvested from other elmo machines I thought he was having them made. I don't have access to a cnc at home at least, but I do have a small table top lathe in the garage which could make these, a profile of the shape would be needed to make it easier to make multiplies of these, its just a little cotton reel with an angle on one end. I'll speak to Bill, I have the measurements already and was going to make some for my own GS's, bill kindly sent me one, so the least I can do is to return the compliment. As said earlier it got broke in the post but the pro file was still intact.

Hi Paul do you think you could make few ???

Wish I had one to send you.

Need to work out a little flatty type screw that would do for the shaft as well.

Best Mark.

Hi Mark, the roller is still intact but the one rim is broken in half, but the hole is still ok, I will measure, looks to be about 3mm or so, is it a threaded cheese head screw, or a set pin. A set pin has a plain portion and then the thread at the end. I need some high speed tool steel for the cutter, I will check at work on Monday, i'll check ebay for the material, might not be too expensive. What has happened to yours Mark, is wear an issue here. I work with ceramics which would be perfect if it was for there hardness problem, they will wear away the metal pin it sits on.

Hi Paul its to get a couple fitted to my mag optical st160 to stop the same scratching issues as the GS1200 set up in the same place.

Inlet shute where the film touches down and the out end of the top sprocket shue.

However still struggling to get a 200 + watt 100 volt transfomer for it as prefer the bang on one.

I could move the wire from 100 to 125 and use a 110/120 transfomer but would loose a little light. Also prefer to keep it at the usual setting really.

Best and hope you could do it.Little white rollers I had were in one piece.

Anyone got a spares st1200 they could send Paul one from?

Mark.
