Hi! I'm thinking about acquiring this Kodak projector, is it any good? it got an 1000w 230v lamp, magnetic and optical sound and it can also run silent, so it sounds good to me, but I don't know much about it.

A word to the wise Thor, check that you can still get replacement lamps for the projector, other than that I can't see why the
machine should give any problems,Kodak is a well respected
name and I've never come across any adverse feelings toward their projectors.Go for it young man.

The Pageants are lovely looking machines. I'd love one but they turn up only rarely here in the UK. Ten a penny in the US, though.

Thank you for your replies!

Is it that hard to change it over to run on another type of lamp?

It shouldn't be too difficult Thor, lots of people have done it in the
past,I would think you're going to need a transformer and lamp
holder, and enough distance from lamp to aperture to ensure the light is going where you want it too...on the screen. We used to have a Genius here in the UK called Harold Bailey, known as
"Bailey the Light" who used to "soup up" projectors to project
bigger and brighter pictures, because then the highest would only
have been 100w,but since then older machines have been fitted with brighter lamps. The best and safest way would be
to get a professional to do this for you, because you might need
additional mods for cooling.

Thank you for your very informative posts Hugh!

Just a thought, how would a normal halogen lamp work in a projector? ( R7s lamps?) I don't know if the light colour would be right, or if the light would be even.

Does the pageant have a cold mirror in the lamp house?

It seems like I'm getting an Eiki RT-2 instead, the seller of the Kodak is really hard to communicate with...
