Hi all,
I just recently acquired a Kodak Pageant (120V, 750 watt lamp) but was really disappointed with the screen size during projection [Frown] ... I was disappointed to find out that my 100 watt bulp Chinon super 8, SP 330MV projected a way larger, though not as crisp, size screen... If anyone's familiar with this projector, please lemme know what I'm hopefully doing wrong and thanks again [Smile] !!!

The normal lens for the Pageant is 2 inches. I have an adapter which increasing the picture size. These come up on Ebay once in awhile.

Same I felt with my Bauer P7M Synchro ... Got myself a zoom lens and it's better, but still needs quite a distance to get a big picture. Quality is awesome though, my A&B Double Cross at Criss Cross is sharper than my Blu-Rays

Elyas,

I swear by the Kodak Pageants, I have a couple myself (one for parts) and it's true it comes equipped with a 1.6 lens that is much brighter than a 1" zoom lens if the projector is further back. I also found a 4" inch lens for a show in a theater sized room.

If you have Bolex 18-5L, you can use the ISCO 1.3 lens on that machine for a very large image (from up close). I found that the lens is interchangable and easy to focus. There is also the case of brightness which can be found in the settings inside the lamp house for both lo-hi and an adjustable 2 blade shutter!

My 250S is of the best machine out there for 16mmm I use it regularly for home screenings up close using the ISCO 1.3. For transfers and film club showings I use the Ektanar 1.6 that it is equipped with. I also have a Bausch & Lomb scope lens (that needs no primary lens) but, you need to have at least 20' of distance to the screen to get a good focus.

Enjoy!

I tried looking for the adapter but didn't see it. This adapter attaches to the lens and if flipped will make a smaller picture. Mine is already equipped with a 2 bladed shutter. I bought mine used and had it for 10 years already with absolutely no problems.

All you guys, I'm speechless and can't even begin to express how grateful I am for all your help, much appreciated... So I tried to do an ebay search and came up with these, as per Gerald's advice. So, which one would you recommend I go for, Gerald [Smile] ? Taking into consideration that I'm in Canada and not at all well of either [Wink] ...

Hi Elyas,

The lens I have is from the latest Bolex 18-5L model, the ISCO 1.3 lens, which I found a similar one here in Canada:

http://www.eba y.com/itm/PROJECTOR-MOVIE-VARIO-KIPTAGON-ISCO-GOTTINGEN-29MM-DIAMETER-15-30MM-F-1-1-3-LENS-/370704120400?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item564faffa50

Here's a cheaper one for sale but, it's in the U.S.

ISCO Lens

That being said, all of these lens should fit as they are the same barrel size:

Bolex Hi-Fi f/1.3 lenses of 15, 20 or 20mm focal length or with the Bolex Hi-Fi 14-25mm f/1.3 zoom lens. An Isco Vario Kiptagon 16.5-30mm f/1.3 lens was usually equipped on later models -- which is the one that I have.

When you get the lens, you will need to secure it. I use Pec Pads when cleaning films so, I found that you can use one of these wrapped around the barrel of lens to adjust the tension, it should fit perfectly and focus very nicely.

If you do not add this as kind of an adapter the lens will sit there and create dark spots around the corners of the frame, nothing serious but light will escape the lens.

Let us know when you have one and what you think of it, I'm glad to be of service.

[Smile]

You're welcome Elyas, and by the way...here is the Kodak 250S Owners Manual which shows the bifocal converter that Larry mentioned and other accessories you can find for the projector.

If you have a different model, there may be one in the Film Tech manual warehouse:

Yes Elyas, that one should fit...I see that a best offer was accepted so it's nice to get it as low as possible. Some people buy the 18-5L projector just to get at the lens -- and now for the test!

I bought the other lens. The picture is actually very sharp and brighter than the standard 2" lens but doesn't cover the entire 16mm frame. What a shame. I have posted pictures of the new lens and my original lens and can see the back element is smaller than the 2" lens. And an example of what it looks like projected.

The picture looks really good, the lens that I have is fine, nothing is really cropped that I can tell. Occasionally if the lens is not fitting properly you will see dark spots on the corners but, you can get it to look sharp.

The lens is bright up close and in the dark but compared to the 2" lens, I think that one is brighter overall from any distance. When you screen films during the day with the ISCO 1.3, the picture will be much grainier than the 2" (although, obviously bigger).

I think it's a nice component to have, once I figured out it fit, I wanted to look at all of my films this way to see the difference --- and there definitely differences!

Dearest Gerald,

finally got the lens and the image size is great but I guess I'm being picky as it did crop out a small portion of the area like you said it would ad upon further research on the lens, turns out it is a super 8 lens after all. I'm thinking about selling the lens as I can wait to get the actual Kodak Pageant short throw one like this one I've already found on ebay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/16MM-LENS-KOD AK-PAGEANT-126-TR-250-PROJECTOR-1-INCH-LENS-LARGE-IMAGE-/200904268500?pt=US_Film&hash=item2ec6d3dad4

I also have this very lens below that I would love to have you (and anyone else who might be seeing this) appraise for me, please good sir (sirs/ ma'ams) [Smile] ...

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313&_nkw=astro+kino+l ens&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Thanks again and please stay in touch [Big Grin] !!!

Best,
ET
