Good afternoon everyone, new here. I'm a long time lurker, first time poster.
I've just purchased a B&H 613 that looks to be perfect albeit lacking a power cord and transformer. Ideally i'd like to change from a jones connection to something a little easier to source, has anyone here done this before?

Any help you could provide would be great!

Hi Thomas,
I assume you are going to go down one of two routes:
a) Use a modern 240/110V outdoor construction site transformer with the correct plugs and leads or;
b) Get a second hand Bell & Howell 240/110V projector transfomer with input and output leads.
Provided its in good condition b) is much simpler and keeps the projector original if you ever sell it.

Hi Paul.

Ideally i'd like to keep everything original but i've been having a lot of trouble finding a transformer and associated leads. Is there a ready supply around or is it a case of waiting??

Hi Thomas,
I got a "doughnut" GB Equipments transformer several years ago on Ebay but I sold it on with my B&H 602. They do come up on Ebay every 2 or 3 months. Alternatively look for a cheap spares or repairs 601, 621, 631 or 640 projector with a transformer included. I'd avoid trying to modify the 613 socket or wire up a Jones plug unless you are confident with electrical wiring as the projector must be earthed properly.

Hi, I think the lead you may be referring to was known as a "Y" lead as the projector cable was split and had 2 "plugs". The large one for the mechanics and lamp and the small one for the amp. The trouble I have found is that it is made of rubber and over the years has deteriorated to the point that it is dangerous. I have had the same problem with the moulded rubber plugs on the Cinetechnic Debries. I have never been able to find an alternative for the B & H 600 series machines. Ken Finch.

I have the transformer and leads you are looking for with my 601 machine. It's a bit of a "nostalgic" thing as I cut my teeth on a 601 as School Projectionist around 1950 to 1953.
I'm not sure that I want to get rid of them..... but what would you be prepared to pay for them (not the projector itself!), remembering that the transformer is very heavy?

Thank you for your help it has been great, i had no idea so many other models used the same transformer setup so will keep an eye out for those.

Sorry if you know this already but the 240V version of the 613, the 613H, is an alternative to the 110V 613 or 613M. You still need a mains lead in good condition but no transformer is required.

I did not know this as i've only dabbled with 9.5mm Babys before. Having had a closer look it's the 110v 613. The owner did have the power setup but couldn't find it when he sold it on :-/ At this point is probably where i should have done a little more reading!
