After working OK last a day or so ago the take up spool is not turning. I have run with the back off and all the gears turn OK. In the arm the gears and rod system system turn OK by had (a little stiff though) but it does not turn whrn the machine is set to forward (reverse is OK to front spool)

Any ideas what might be wrong?

If the arm gears are "a little stiff" the reel may slow down as it fills. Maybe you should lubricate the arm gears?

Good luck.

I'll try that, but the trouble is even with no reel on the spindle doesn't turn.

It looks like it had stuck in the power rewind position and no drive was going to the take-up arm. It seems to have reset itself and is now working properly.

Of course on the second film the lamp blew, can't have everything!!!
