Hi I could really do with a bit of help please.

I need a few cm`s of tubing.

It needs to be 42.5mm measured on the outside and the inside hole if you will be 40mm.

Failing that some flexible plastic 1.25mm thick.

I can wrap around the lens, rather than a pop over sleeve as above.

Any suggestions or ideas or help etc greatly appreciated. I think I might ned some paul tech here.

Thanks Mark.

Simply to allow me to use an elmo 40mm sized lens fitting in an Eiki 42.5mm barrel.

Its a shame there isn`t more variance between the two as 1.25mm is`nt a lot to work with.

Very easy to work up from an eiki to a B+H howell for instance.

Best Mark.

Won't a little shim steel assist here Mark, for your needs with this particular one?

We have plastic and brass sets of both at work, all different thicknesses. Not mega bucks to buy either.

Any really Mark, it's just flat material in sheet form that can be cut to any size as precisely as you care to make it.

The good thing about using either plastic or brass shim material is you can make up any small thickness you would like with such accuracy, you would gain precisely the fit you would desire for these things.

In this case, you would simply make up a sleeve from two separate pieces, one 1mm thick, the other .25mm thick.

this would then hopefully give you a nice snug fitting lens Mark.

Practically any material would suffice, so long as you can measure it accurately with say a micrometer and then cut it to size. Even an old tupperware lid or the likes may measure ideal just by trial and error so long as you can measure these things precisely as you look around.

It just needs to be a material with no "give" in it unlike an old fag packet or cereal box for example, which is why materials like brass, steel or even plastic are better for this purpose.

Just a thought.....
What about a short piece of heatshrink tube, available in many sizes.
When shrunk on to the lens barrel, it may need two thicknesses, but could work.
Best
