Does anyone use amplification for 16mm presentation or is just using the extension speaker the norm?

Colin...I connect the output from my Elmo 16CL to two small daisy-chained guitar amplifier/speakers. Simple and sounds good [Smile]

I usually run three extension speakers across the front if the track is clear, but if the speech is rather indistinct, I put it through a 100 watt amplifier with built in Graphic-equaliser which improves it no end. Trouble is it's a bit heavy to lug around.

I never use an external amp at home with my Bell & Howell Tq3's but older projectors do benefit it from one especially to a sizeable audience. Whatever method you use you need the speakers as high as practical - at least half way up the screen and preferably one either side.

I like to link my 16mm optical prints via QUAD 22 / QUAD II
valve ( tube ) pre and power amps for that authentic " Cinema
Sound" .
I like to use Horn loudspeakers. [Big Grin]

I use two B+H Jan external speakers placed mid way up the screen. The tube amp on the JAN projector puts out great sound and in my basement I never come close to cranking the volume up over half way.
