Now my 16mm projector has arrived I need to purchase some films.

I am looking for the following:

Close encounters
Blade Runner
AI artificial intelligence
Alice in wonderland (Disney)
Raiders of the lost Ark
Terminator 2
Mulan (Disney)

I was thinking that too Vidar!
Those won't be cheap or even if for sale at all for some of them,
I hope this is updated if the films are bought and what the $$$$ were [Smile]

Hi Phil I would put a wanted lsit in the CHC mag or Ace mag etc and with luck you may be offered some from a collector who still has thier feet on the ground regarding prices and is happy to just sell for what they origionally paid.

I hope you do get a couple at least to get you going nicely.

Update: just missed out on Alice in wonderland, it went for $320, not too high.
Managed to buy a really nice print of Peter Pan, an excellent print of The Black Cauldron and The Rescuars down under which I have not watched yet. Missed out on a print of The little mermaid for $700. Then offered one for $1000 but had to pass on it, too pricey for me. The search continues.

You got some very nice titles there Philip in no time at all!
And at some sensible prices by the looks of things. Well done to you.

Btw how do they compare to a Derann S8 quality Disney print on say a 10ft screen? Are they much sharper?

Well,

good look with Ai ...I never saw one copy when I was searching and buying big 10 years or so ago.

I had an awful lot of the other stuff from "Raiders, Close Enc, - to Godfather 3, etc. 8mm could never match the prints in that bracket.

Derann's 8mm prints could equal a lot of my good dupes and other prints if projected correctly. But If I blew up my copy of Back to the Future 3 to 10 ft...well now way..even the Disney's.

Costs too much money though for me..so I had to be sensible..and move - sideways.

Peter pan has excellent colour and is really sharp, I had this on super 8 and have to say the quality was pretty close to the 16mm although the blacks and colours on the 16mm are a lot better. The black cauldron is excellent, really sharp and great colour, as we know this was never released by Derann so we I can't compare. I have The Little Mermaid on super 8mm, it has some light scratches here and there but the colour and sound are excellent although some of the shots are slightly soft, thats why I wanted a 16mm print of this, If any forum members have a16mm print of Mermaid I would be interested to know if it has the same softness problem.

It's good to know, where applicable Phillip, that the Derann prints run the 16mm equivalents as close as is technically possible.
