Hi all,
I started notice this when put the DVD into big screen using NEC LCD Projecgtor. I found that some movies presented in cinemascope have their black bars shaking or jittering. Btu I can see some are steady.
Why this happens? How can big studion releases a movie like this?
It does not influence the main picture, but if I look to the edge of the up and down bars and they are jiterring, it is distubing for me.

Would it not be true that in any form of large screen (i.e. projected) presentation the same good practice should apply? Whether it be from Film or from Video projector the screen should be masked to the format being displayed. That way, any irregularities in the frame edges of either film or video will be hidden in the masking. That is all part of good presentation.
Martin.

Hi Hugh,
I am watching it through a DVD player projected by NEC LCD.
I started to realize it because previously I only watched through an ordinary TV and that shaking was hardly noticed (due to the size).
First time, I was thinking that it might be the issue of electric power frequency (50/60hz) or NTSC vs PAL issue. But then I found, some movies have a very stable bars (mask).
