I need insight. Recently I purchased a Panasonic DVD/VHS combo unit. While either playing or recording, the unit produces a pattern effect on the TV screen.
The rear inputs and outputs are both RF and RCA. The TV is programmed to channel 3 and I have Cabelvision Service.
The cable service enters via RF, from the wall and into the cable box. From there it came out of the RF and into the combo player. However an annoying pattern effect displays on the TV screen.
I called Panasonic and they recommended that the input and output should be solely through the RCA cables. This did not clear the pattern effect. Incidentally the unit also runs "S" video.
The next suggestion was to set the machine while either recording or watching, to channel 4 on the TV and channel 3 on the machine.
This worked but it is annoying and confusing to use because the combo players remote, and the TV's remote is needed to set the system. The process is frustrating.
Is there any way of making this easier by getting around this set-up process? Maybe a line filter of some kind would be helpful?
