Hi, reading some of the posts I note a soft focused picture of an angry man with the text saying something along the lines of 'Illegal Picture, this piece of sh*t is stealing..' blah blah blah. Whats all this? Can others see any accompanying pictures or is it just me seeing this angry defocused chap?

I see this often myself, but usually it's the result of the Internet connection I am using.

For example at my old job I was working through a proxy server and the angry guy was there until they changed so the PCs accessed the 'net directly. I also see it when I access the forum through my cell phone. The same instances return to what they should be when I'm on other machines.

Have no idea why, but then again I am profoundly un-digital!

-No worries!

Thanks Steve, yes I usually access this forum thru a works PC, via their firewall , so perhaps its filtering out 'content'. I'll double check on my hom ePC. Cheers and trust the weather is fine in New York?

Hi Mark,

It's beautiful sunny day, with just a nip of late summer/early fall.

Believe I'll take my bike out during lunch!

Thanks!

Just to say that we will be flying the Stars and Stripes outside our home in Bristol, England, as we always do on 9/11, remembering all those murdered and as a show of defianace to those that still think terrorism is justifiable. Cheers to you Steve and your fellow Americans.

Thanks!

Oddly enough one of the memories of that time for me was the fact that my parents were visiting friends in Barnard Castle, County Durham that month.

They were supposed to be flying home a week later and we were plenty worried about getting them home! For days afterwards there were no flights at all. Fortunately by their travel date planes were back on schedule.

Even though I'd probably flown a hundred times myself by then, the first time I saw an airliner up there I felt a little fear.

With the bridges and tunnels to the mainland closed and no flights in or out we were down to ferry service on Long Island: probably closer to real island life since the Brooklyn Bridge was first opened.

Mark

Thanks for flying our flag on 9/11. I think that's a great gesture on your part. By the way, I live in your namesake town, Bristol,RI.

I think the picture you are seeing is solely asscociated with this forum, and comes up when you try to copy a picture that is within an existing forum post In any case, I think the picture is vulgar and insulting - a simple written warning would surely suffice!

It dates back to WAY before the 8mm forum and was due to porn sites using our server to host their product, which we didn't take very kindly to. There were various iterations of it, but as Paul will be disappointed to find, the tame ones were completely non-effective.

The problem went away a looooong time ago, but apparently the old coding is still in there. Just ignore it. All it means is you have a firewall blocking your access.

Thanks all. And hi to Pat, yes I'm in the original Bristol, United Kingdom.
And just to say remembering on this day 11 years ago the cowardly attacks on the United States. Never forgotten.

I had this problem about four years ago, but it's never happened since.

I still have the problem, even when I turn off the firewall. The ugle mug continues to appear!

Jerome,

This forum server will also not allow you to link picture from the other site, e.g you store picture in photobucket.com (a free photo storage website).

What you can do is to only upload pictures (in limit to max 550 pixels) from your computer to this server by clicking "Click here to upload an image." right beside "PREVIEW POST" button.

cheers,
