I have always been a fan of those great British newsreels of the 30's and 40's.
I came across a rather good one which really makes you think about how cultures and attitudes have changed around association football/ soccer, in the U.K....it was much different back in England in the 30's.. have a look

Lol...yes that was me - centre left back...holding the sandwiches and the ash trays..Lol
I was watching our home team yesterday with my 15 year old son..Grimsby Town. We got a 2 -2 draw.. far more entertaining in the old days when they allowed "smoking" on the pitch..

I remember Billy Bremner and Jack Charlton smoking. Modern footballers entertain a different type of weed and Rooney smokes in between burgers and chips.
