Hi All, My blackhawk film boxes are for the most part in excellent shape. Yes, I have a handful that are slightly tattered, but most have held up pretty well- lucky purchases i guess.... Anyways, I got one film in the mail recently that, well, the film was okay, but the box was mouldy...and cleaning it off basically rendered it useless....and it got me thinking.... The graphics on these boxes would be a cinch to scan at high res, and thus....could we not not get these blank boxes printed from somewhere? I can't see how this could be so hard. Someone must have done something all ready here? There are a couple size boxes, but we should be able to make them all up somewhere. Anyone else have any thoughts? Cheers, Matt PS:I am not talking about selling these as that would be a licensing infringement...but we should be able to make our own replacement copies IDENTICAL to the originals, no? PSS: Although i mention blackhawk...this could be done for any cardboard film box, once scanned and sized...

It's a nice thought, still I'm hesitant about creating a box that isn't a genuine Blackhawk, no matter what the condition is - I'm very loyal to the fold, though I do have a repro box someone made for me - Odd thing, Polar Lights accomplished a similar manufacture with teh Aurora Model boxes - Darn Near, yes, but...Imagine of course, this could be done for Castle, Ken or any earlier box variation - Well, that's my nickel on it, Shorty

I agree Shorty. I would only do this for the rotting cases, which I don't want near the good ones Interestingly, another thread was started here by Andrew: http://8mmforum.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=002697 with good information in regards to some boxes and some sources. I noticed as well that there are some other places where 'jewelry boxes' or 'gift boxes', 'chocolate boxes' may be custom made...many of which could potentially work. I am just thinking out loud, but I agree Paul, a scan of the image would be ideal, on a label sheet...and I wonder in this day and age if someone would even go the extra step of printing our scanned image right on a box...glossy This company for example prints chocolate boxes, custom sizes, and perhaps even the artwork http://soopak.com/chocolate-box.html Would be neat. Cheers, Matt

Nice find Steve! Those would work. It is difficult sometimes to find perfectly square. I have found many 'custom' places make them somewhat rectangular rather than square, so these are pretty good!
My original thought was to perhaps take a sample of each product, ie. one box from every size(blackhawk one reeler, two reeler, 4, 5 reel boxes, etc... and scan the blackhawk image by destroying(oops, that may be a bad word ) a good box lid by flatting it completely on a scanner and doing a super high res image(300-600 dpi), then we would have that image. Then one could get almost any sticker/label place to make a new label and then stick them on said box. I am sure the boxes must be able to be found in any colour, like the black or green in gloss.... I've seen some other threads here now that i didn't see earlier where some people have tried similar here... Cheers, Matt
