Just giving us folks the heads up ...

This film is NOT a Bug' Bunny cartoon. It is a cartoon that was done in Australia in the 1950's entitled "Rabbit Stew" that has a bear hunting a rabbit, but it isn't a warner Brother Bug's Bunny cartoon. I know this as I bought this Blackhawk release some years ago and was saddened to find that it was Bug's Bunny.

Goodness Gwacious!!!

-thanks for the warning, Osi!

(Is it at least a good cartoon?)

I don't think bears usually hunt rabbits anyway! (-too much effort for the reward. Better something stationary like berries or predictable like salmon! Bears are neither fast nor agile, and rabbits are both!)

It's an Australian bear as well.

From the history I have read of this cartoon, (I forget the directors name), this fellow was commissioned by Columbia pictures to do a few cartoons (in the hopes of doing a full series of films), and unfortunately, all the gags were already done many times over with better results with other US companies, and the animation in the films was, quite frankly, amateurish in comparison with what studios were capable of by the mid 50's. These two cartoons has an almost 30's look to the characters. Nice backgrounds, though.
