Just seen the recent New " Magnifient 7 " remake and have to say I really enoyed it.

I thought the Photography was really good as well, and the picture and colours etc. Wow !!!

Just read on the kodak site that it was filmed on real film. Quite a few still are these days.

Long may it continue, and as said before the very best of both worlds.

I`d really reccomend you check this out, and a rather good, fairly old fashioned, sort of a Movie.

Best Mark.

I meant to see it in the cinema when it was out. Any western is better than none. Must check it out when it is released on DVD.

Its on blu-ray at the moment out here, but to be honest have been reluctant to watch it. However after Mark comments I will give it a go.

There is one western we ran a few years ago on 35mm that I really enjoyed and that was 3:10 to Yuma back in 2007. I am still looking for a 35mm print of it...that would be nice [Cool] anyway its certainly worth watching it on blu-ray [Smile]

Hi Oh Dear I hope I haven`t over sold it.

I had been putting it off, yes its a different feel from the older version but if taken on its own its really good.

You can really tell that they have put some real thought in to the shots and composition etc of it all. Maybe thats the film side of things helping that.

Compared to things like Ben Hur (2016 ) avoid if you can at all costs, its a masterpiece.

Maybe lacks a little depth compared to the 1960 version, but compared to most remakes its a very decent effort and well worth your time.

Ooer I`m at it again !!!

Best Mark.

Wasn't going to rush out straight away. Bet the price drops after a month or so. Played this game before you know!!

It did have a few good moments, but not enough character development, to make you care more for these folks as they are killed. This was one of the things that really made the original "7" really stand out.

For instance, Charles Bronson's character being a mexican american and his interaction with the children of the village and setting them straight as to what is real bravery ...

Thanks to Marks recommendation I went out and bought the blu-ray. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. It was quite expensive at around $40....so it better be good [Smile]

Just kidding Mark [Wink]

I watched it last night on DVD.
I knew it would be good but it was GREAT !
Right from the start until the very end it there were no boring or slow parts.
The actors are all great - Denzel Washington,Chris Pratt,Ethan Hawke and many others did a good job.
The baddie, industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard)was nasty and deserved all he got [Smile]
I will have to re-watch the original again and see how they compare [Smile]

I may have over-sold it too Mark Todd [Smile]

Cheers from me in New Zealand :-)
