Film critic Barry Norman has passed away. Well known on the UK television for his no nonsense straight talking on new films, he was one of my favourite to present the show. R.I.P Barry Norman.

i use to watch his TV show as often as i could. One of the shows which stood out for me was when reviewed the British film Scum about borstal. I have no idea why it stands out but after his review i needed to see the movie and have been a fan of the film and Ray Winston ever since. He had a way with words and anyone who took over his show killed it, especially when Michael Parkinson has a go at it. very sad to hear of Barry Normans death.

I liked some of the series he did for the BBC when he looked at the lives of some of the big screen stars. I liked his matter of fact style, he told you if he liked it or not, which was refreshing when I first saw him in the 1970's, he will be missed.

Has anyone presented programmes on film in the way he did. I guess most of us film fans watched even if it was rather late at night. No video recorders then!!!

If i remember rightly he also did a part on Super 8 with none other than our own Mr Wilton. Quite a big part of the show it was to.

The piece on Super 8 also included a visit to an Open Day at Derann Films Dudley shop. They were given permission to release to print and sell a limited number of copies of it on Super 8 film, I believe.
I wonder if Keith edited the original film for TV.
