As mentioned on another thread I intend to replace my Super 8mm Feature films and shorts with the 16mm Version only if its of good quality.

However I am having second thoughts about selling off my Derann Super 8mm feature version of JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS.

Not because its absolutely brilliant colour ( its not ) but it because it has Ray Harryhausen's signature on the box of reel # 1.

Has anyone else got famous peoples autographs on any of their boxes of a prized print ?

Hi David I would think there are many films on 8mm you would struggle to find in as nice order or on LPP on 16mm.

Bit of both might be the best thing to do.

Some 8mm in the home is as good or better than 16mm too, even just less grainey even.

I think that feature is a keeper.

Best Mark.

A few years ago I met Ginger Stanley at a special 35mm showing of Creature From The Black Lagoon. Ginger was one of the mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs in Florida, and was the underwater double for Julia Adams in the film. She was kind enough to sign the box cover of my U8 digest.

One of the things that 8mm has over 16mm is the very attractive packaging and art work of many of the films.

Best of both worlds...

You many not find some 16mm titles that compete with some of the really nice S8 releases, that is, if you find the titles at a decent price, or find them at all!

Nice one Paul that is very interesting as I am big fan of the Universal Creature series.

I am not fussed about the packaging of films although I do really like the artwork of the Castle Films horror series boxes.

Mark like i said i will only part with my 8mm prints if i find a good quality 16mm print of the same title.

I know its going be hard but i am giving it a go even though the odds may not be in my favour at present.

I suppose they are out there somewhere. I am kind of lucky as i do have a very limited range of Super 8mm features to replace.

I don't care much for movies like Speed , Lethal Weapon , Star Wars , Flash Gordon , Terminator , Predator, Alien ,Die Hard , Highlander , or Walt Disney features and most of the polyester later stuff that the likes of Derann released or much other titles desired and coveted by a lot of collectors.

Now back to my original question ... Signed copies anyone ? [Smile] [Smile] [Smile]
