Out of curiosity, other than Super8Sound, is there any place that offers K40 for purchase? Is Super8Sound the only company offering processing these days?

Hello brad

I know this won't help you much but in the UK K40 super 8 cartridges are available from all Jessops stores and most high street photographic shops. Until recently 'Boots the Chemist' used to always keep a stock on their shelves but now they will get it in to order. In Europe all K40 is sold with a processing mailer which will get your cartridge to the Kodak labs in Switzerland and back.

Mike.

Hey Brad,
Kodak is offering K-40 with processing for about $13.50. Call 1-800-621-FILM and ask for catalog number 505 3335. Be prepared for the order entry representative to say something like "You'll have to mail this to (Switzerland, France, Australia)for processing". Don't sweat it; you can mail the film to New Jersey and they send it to Dwayne's in Parsons Kansas. I don't know why Kodak's own people don't know this, but I've done about 25 cartridges this way and had no troubles. Also be prepared that the enclosed mailer will say "Kodak processing not available in the United States", it was true, it isn't anymore.

It's a sweet deal, and probably better than any other one out there.

Here's the lab:

Kodak Premium Processing
P.O. Box 7000
Fair Lawn, NJ 07410-7000

Alternatives:

1)Buy the film without processing, and send it to Dwaynes through Walmart.

2)Buy the film without processing and send it directly to Dwayne's

3)Buy the film from Super-8Sound/Pro-8mm (They send it to Dwayne's too.)

All more expensive, and all wind up in the same place anyway.....

Hi Brad- I can still purchase K-40 cartridges at Penn Camera Store in Washington DC. If your ever in the area, let me know and I'll give you address / directions.

I send all my K-40 to Dwayne's directly through the mail and they are usually super-fast on processing. Nick.

Can someone please post the contact information for Dwayne's processing?

Also, can anyone verify that Dwayne uses actual Kodachrome chemicals? Back when I used to shoot a ton of Super 8 I found a substantial difference when comparing "Wal-Mart processing" to "Kodak processing". Basically the Wal-Mart/generic processing places were using Ektachrome chemicals, which doesn't produce near the quality as the true Kodak processing.

Hi Brad,

Here is Dwayne's Website:

http://k-14movies.com/

They state that they are a full Kodachrome lab with processes and chemistry audited by Kodak.

I've heard that Walmart processes through Dwayne's. I've also heard that the people in the photo departments are often not very informed about Super-8 and the handling of your film can be a little iffy. They generally don't lose it, but sometimes you get it returned unprocessed because they don't realize that they really do handle it, and sometimes they think you want it transferred to video and the place that does that rejects your unprocessed cartridge.

Once again, because it's cheaper, and because it's more reliable, I buy the film process included from Kodak.
