Was Walton Films the only company to release Witchfinder General and if not......who else did? And if someone else did.......which one is of better quality as I know Walton was known for doing edits on their features.

The 8 reel verson by Walton is well edited except for the end title. They also produced two one reel extracts and this was made in to a 2reel release not long before Walton pulled out of the 8mm market. The colour on the 8 reeler was good and the story flowed nicely, one wasn't aware of too much missing. There was, I believe a 4reel American version called 'The Conqueror Worm' which had some scenes not in the Walton version. I have never seen this version so can't comment on its quality.
Walton also released the trailer, which was very good.

[Eek!]

In Germany Marketing Films released a 400ft Version and a 200ft Version in colour sound. The 200ft Version include scenes that where not in the 400 ft Version. So you can cut the 200ft Version complete in and you get a 600 ft Version. The Quality was standard like other 70s S8 Films not really good but not bad enough for rubbish, still watchable.

When I heard there is a 4 x 400 ft Version I sold my Marketing Version, because it was to short for the film.
