I read with great interest the replies to my superman sound problem, i think the stuff you boys were discussing about the way you re-record and the titles you have done was fasinating and very rewarding for you. In all my 26 years of collecting this is a side to the hobby i have never tried, my interest was always pulling the mechanical side of the machines apart. When i view my movies its always through a pinoneer stereo amp with twin speakers via the aux out of my St1200HD, this obviously enhances the ordinary extension speaker by far, but by the sound of does not come anywhere near what re-recording achieves for the qulity of sound. Only owning one ST and a couple of baby Elmo's i dont have the advantages of the GS capabilities, belive it or not i dont even possess a tape recorder of any description. In my living room i do have the usuals, Video player, DVD and an excellent DTS amp. [Wink]
As a total re-recording novice where would you chaps recommend i start to get into this side of the hobby?
Obviously i need a means to record From dvd/tape so in this digital age where can i get a tape recorder from? I to have Raiders 400ft and maybe thats a good short to start playing with? Does any use the balance stripe to record onto before going over the original on the main track? [Confused]

Re-recording extracts is a great way of wearing out projectors due to the stop/start, back/forwards nature of the work. I don't tend to do it any longer. The way around it is to transfer a video copy to computer and use a video editing suite on it to match the Super 8 cut down.

A variable speed control on the projector is essential if you don't have sync' pulse of some description.
