Just been looking at one of my old Johnson Smith catalogs.A 12 pound(wgt.) Keystone Moviegraph cost $5.75 -this included shipping to anywhere in the world.Such a machine would take 12 weeks to reach an outpost of the Empire like NZ.I can still by the same projector at ebay for $5.75(with a bit of luck!)but it costs $50 postage and shipping time is 16 weeks.Such is progress.

Hi Trev, don't know if you get HBO down there, but recently Louis Black did a comedy special in New York(Black on Broadway) wherein he did a very funny bit about the agonies of flying to New Zealand(e.g."if you're flying 'coach'...shoot yourself!"). He recommended that you(New Zealanders)all get into the sea and push your island(s) closer to the rest of the world!HaHaHa.... [Big Grin]

Joe,
I'm pretty sure New Zealander's like Trevor have no desire to be any closer to the rest of the World. Why should they? They live in a gorgeous country with few of the social, economic, and international problems that plague most of the rest of the world.
Let New Zealand stay where it is. Then we will know that there is at least one country in the world that has got it all right.

Paul, I don't think Joe was knocking New Zealand, he was addressing Trevor's post with a little satirical humor about the distances between us. If you've ever flown coach for thirteen hours, then you should know. [Razz]

Trev,

Where is New Zealand?

Har!Point taken.Where indeed is NZ?That is the way to be these days!Best keep ones whereabouts a secret. I know the agony of economy class air trips to the USA and Europe(which is where the UK is isn't it Tony?):-).I'm reconciled to regarding Australia as "the rest of the world". I'm surrounded by old projectors and I do have all the old Moviegraphs.Very lucky kids must have received machines like the Keystone Model 154w for Xmas. What great service the mail order houses gave-same postal charge to send this projector across town or across the world.
Trev
