Hi well I was thinking the other day about how much I support Derann.Particulary new product and also second hand.

How much business have we all put their way in the last year. Mine is modest I`ll admit with 3 nippers etc but here we go.

New product in the last year about £50.

Second hand a few times that and would have been much higher but you need to move like lightening to catch things on thier second hand lists.

Best Mark.

Many hundreds of pounds but I'm not being anymore specific than that. [Wink]

I tend to make most of my pucheases now at the BFCC rather than by post. This year I made the trip up to Derann with Tony and Doug Meltzer and was glad that I took my credit card, with that, several purchases at BFCC and getting one or two new releases through the post earlier in the year I think I've done my bit.

But like Kev', the exact amount is mine and Duncans secret [Wink] .

Mike

ps. BFCC next saturday, credit card at the ready!

How much do I support Derann?

Let's say if I spent on booze what I spend there, I'd have a real problem! (Especially if we're talking cheap booze!)

...and if there was a Derann Film Services T-shirt, I'd wear it proudly!

(Just one nipper, two years old and loves watching "moowies"!)

I'm considering a "Derann for ever" Tatoo [Big Grin]

I spend just a little, and buy regularly from the used lists. Actually, discovering a Derann catalogue 8 or 10 years ago put me back on track of super 8 collecting.

Don't know if I should thank them for that, though... Mhh...

Ive jusr ordered the new catalogue and intend buying some new titles. I often try and purchase from the S-H lists but mostly Im too late.
Ive been using E bay too and find this OK,though not always that cheap, its astounding what some items fetch.
I am going to buy some new stuff though from Derann.

I've been spending an average of about $200-$250 per year for the past 2-3 years on Derann products. All new items (usually purchased through Steve Osborne/The Reel Image here in the U.S.). I tried to purchase from the used film list a few years back, but always too late, so I gave up on that.

I've been very happy with thier new products through the years and will continue to support them.

By the way- is that new Matrix extract out yet? Anyone seen it?

P.S.- One nipper, only a few years until college [Eek!]

Nick.

I'll only be specific on the nipper part. One, who's going into college next year.
As for my annual Derann spending......similar to Kevin's answer. Many hundreds of pounds which really hurts when you consider the exchange rate.
But worth every penny (or pence, guinea, sovereign, crown, florin, shilling, sixpence, groat, ha'penny, farthing)!

Doug

About 250 this year, modest by some and a bit more than other.
i have spent a little at CHC's table at Tadworth, so should not forget Phil, as he is doing a lot now for the hobby.

I almost never buy new as that is usually out of my reach...except for Grease this year and whatever odds and ends I can come up with!
Derann started me collecting again. I remember the first time I got their lists. I went a little crazy.... [Smile]

Makes you wonder who buys the interesting titles from their used lists as none of us seems quick enough to grab them...
Just purchased some prints from Paul Foster (super fast service) and went totally wild visiting Ian's shed a couple of years ago.

Jean-Marc,

The lightwater 4 are soon to hit the Perry shed for a good old rummage so I hope we get there before you.

Chris, yes quite right, we should give credit to Classic. Paul Foster and of course Grandpa Ian. I bought Buddy's Theatre from Classic at Tadley (what a great venue by the way) and it is a real peach of a short, highly repeatable. To be honest I doubt that Classic covered their costs of attending the Tadley show but Derran certainly weren't there.

Trouble is I would like to buy from all of them every month but I have 4 nippers, a rabbit and probably soon another cat!

Jean Marc Welcome to the forum.

Any super 8 still available in France locally?

How did you get involved in super 8?

You will need to check with Tony over what vintage wine you bring to Ian's shed he is very fussy but I think you will have the same tastes when you get to know each other. [Wink]

Don't worry, I can't make it to the BFCC, can't make it to Blackpool in November, so no stop over at Ian's planned for me...
"Lightwater 4"... Mh, do you, gents, live in the Leeds/York/Ripon area?

Mike, You'll find a quick overview about the collecting world in France here
I started collecting super8 as a kid, 25-30 years ago, got into serious collecting about 10 years ago.
I'm also very peckish as far as wine is concerned but I'm sure we'll find a common ground when we eventually get together. [Big Grin]

That bottle of "Cepa Araciel" was superb, more presents like that and you can have the KEYS to the shed [Razz]

I purchase my new Deranns (and Classic Home Cinema) through the Reel Image (Steve Osborne). Given responsibilities such as a mortgage, kids' college funds, car payment, etc., I purchase mainly shorts as prices for new features are out of reach for me at the moment.

Regarding the references to buying from Derann's second hand lists - I expect UK collectors used to have an advantage, but this no longer applies if you subscribe to the Email version. You'll probably get the list late on Friday afternoon and it's then a matter of trying to get through asap after 9am (UK time) on the following Monday morning. If you really want something, don't settle for sending an e-mail because Duncan, etc, are unlikely to get away from the phones for a few hours, so may well have sold the item before they see your message.
