John, I have two 'Hovis' ads on super 8, 'The Runaway' where the little boy tries to go to London and the one with the bicycle and the steep cobbled hill. Both are in very good condition and if you want a lend for the BFCC you're welcome to them.

Mal, the little boy on the bike was a young Kevin Faulkner in his 1st movie [Big Grin]

.... and weren't these the ads directed by Ridley Scott?

Your right about Ridley Scott. Not sure about the Runaway ad though. Most of the modern ads dont have the same imagination and quality. The modern ads for cinema and TV make me cringe.

Right guy's, who released them on 8mm was it Dune films? I have to say that I really liked those adds. The ovaltinies one was with the 2 kids sitting in front of an old wireless set and really did capture the period so well.
Must keep a look out for those again in the dealers lists and at the BFCC.

Kev.

Yes, they were released Dune Films. I have a few of their releases and all but one has two ads for the same product. If anyone had the time to do the research, it would be fascinating to have an article for a film collecting publication on the subject of the small companies that only put out a few specialised releases. Maybe Dune had links with the advertising industry?

Very kind of you Mal. I'll speak to Keith and get back to you.

The earlier Hovis ads were Ridley Scott, later ones were his brother Tony.

Update: I've spoken to Keith and he'd love to put the Hovis ads in. Then all we'll need are the Cadbury's Smash robots!!! Now who's got those?
