I just acquired this title from Ebay, from the seller who once we knew always "too honest" in stating the film length. As s result, the normal buyers like me got confused on the original spool when the first time it was released. In his description, he says 2 x 500".

I found at the old threads about this Sinbad, but do you think this Sinbad came from the 200" reelers? If it is so, why it is now 2 x 500"? Weren't those Sinabds released on 4 reeler x 200"?

Apart from that, since the seller wrote "JP Law" after the title, is this the same famous Sinbad as we had ever discussed?

I just straight bought it without asking the seller, since he lives close to my region and the price too was so tempting. [Wink]

You are right about 7th Voyage being released only as a 4x200 footer(or in full length from Derann). Actually, if you scroll down on the auction page, you'll find the seller answers three questions by saying that he made a mistake and it is indeed "Golden Voyage". Possibly this a compilation of the two different 4x200 versions that Columbia released.

I placed bid in the last minutes as time was running out, while I also placed some bids on his other auctions. This is always the problem when we are watching auctions with only seconds on the interval. Why some sellers don't place an interval 5 minutes between their lot, so it will increase more bidder and value too.

But anyway what the hell US$11.50. He lives nearby, cost of shipping isn't that expensive. For the total films I acquired from him, i.e. six 400 reels and five 800 reels, he just only charged me AU$12.80 (eqv US$ 10).

Happy collecting, I can increase my collection now.

Now unless the seller was offering "Golden Voyage" on two 600' reels, it probably really was closer to 2x400' (spliced together from 4x200') since there is no such thing as a 500' reel, and a 400' reel wouldn't be able to hold 500' of film...

Then again, looking at the eBay photo, these reels are almost certainly 600' ones... and Doug may be onto something here because at least one of the two reels looks like it has three 200-footers mounted on it! Who knows, this "2x500'" may in fact be a 6x200' ... (Wow, is anybody confused yet?) [Eek!]

I just got a confirmation from the seller that the reels size respectively are 207mm (8.15 inch). As far as I know, 400" reel is 7 inch....so this is 600" reel, isn't it?

Ok.....so I followed Andreas' techniques in analyzing the reel.

Here we go...

From the picture, it can be seen that the film has almost taken all capacity and even the perforations can be seen on the edge of the plastic reel. So.. if it is 600" reel and as we have all known that a company released 200" reel, mostly, the actual length was only between 150" - 175".

So it means, it COULD be that all 4 reels Sinbad are in each 600" reel, couldn't be it? [Cool]

The seller's main business was actulally selling the records (LPs) and he was selling 8mm on behalf of someone in Australia. That's why in all his auctions, he mentioned the length of the films in the weird way like that.

I just hoped that since there are 2 x 600 reels on the auction, that both SINBADS are actually there... in this case it wil be more cool [Cool]

Perhaps, he put the title, i.e. 7th Voyage Sinbad, on the auction merely based on the label found on the case. And when someone was asking the confirmation, he then screened the second reel, which was "Golden Voyage", and therefore he corrected it.

But because of his correction on the title, no one placed the bid more than US$11.50.

I am really now crossing my finger, that it happened [Wink]

In this case then...it would be a loud HOOOOORRAAAAYY!!! [Big Grin]

I will let you know when it arrives.

I think you're onto something here. Given your scenario, both reels would have to be pretty darn full, but one of them looks like it actually is (can't tell with the other). So... good luck, let's hope you get both Sinbads. [Smile]

I finally received the reels, and the GOOD NEWS is

BOTH Golden Voyage and 7th Vogage of Sinbad ARE here!

My scenario came to right direction...and moreover it was only US$11.50!.

The seller even waived the shipping cost for me! (added: since I bought a lot of stuff from him). What a great person!.

Other good story was since we were dealing in Australia (my territory!! [Wink]

) no one also wanted to buy "the Dillinger" (2 x 400) Germany, UFA, Color, which finally were sold to me for US$5.

I'm happy [Big Grin]
