Been offered a Goko sound editor (model 3-D?) in good condition except for a dull image. The owner says the lamp has been adjusted, condesors etc cleaned, all of which haven't improved illumination. Any ideas?

Anyway, I'll shoot from the hip...Are you shure you have the right watt on the bulb?

The owner says the lamp has been re-aligned, would have been a better way to put it. Lamp is correct.

I don’t know that model, so I don’t know the path the light travels, but generally speaking for cameras and editors there are mirrors or prisms for reflecting light either to the ocular or in this case to the screen. Why was the bulb re-aligned in the first place? It seems to me that there must be some reason for this. Is it possible that when the bulb was re-aligned a mirror or prism was knocked out of place just a bit?

The realignment may also just have been done poorly. Anytime someone I don't know tells me something "was done," I go and doublecheck it. I just don't trust things like that, unless I know exactly who did them. [Wink]

I have a Goko editor which I got off EBay, I was a little dissapointed with the brightness and tried to get hold of one of the Halogen bulb holder converters of off Classic. Unfortunatly they were out of stock, so with a Halogen capsual bulb and holder from Maplins I set about converting it myself. I cut out the plastic that made the old bulb holder then with plastic padding fixed in the Halogen holder. All light from the back of the bulb must be covered. If the mirrors are miss-alighned then you will see the edge of the film.
Not the best looking of conversions and ended up with loads of plastic padding on the back of the holder to stop light leakage, but when it is all back together you would never know and now decently bright.

I have a Goko RM8008 and that had been looking a bit dull of late.
I have the Halogen lamp in mine but I took the back off and found the mirrors were covered in dust. I gave them a good clean with some lens cleaning tissues and "Voila" the brightness and eveness has now returned.
If any of the optics are out of alignment you wont get the pic central on the screen. If that is ok its down to how clean the mirrors etc are.
