I'm sure we've all seen blunders in 8mm digest releases, either in the subtitles of silent versions or badly written narration. It's not often though, that the box artwork contains mistakes. Here are two of my favorites:

I'm sure Peter Lorre would have taken exception.

This is one I can't believe ever made it past whatever quality control Columbia Pictures Home Entertainment had:

I can only guess that someone was a Simon & Garfunkel fan.

Talking of Peter Lorre Doug, have you ever seen him in Silk Stockings? [Big Grin]

He is absolutely hilarious in this Cole Porter musical movie spoof of the cold war, with the great Fred Astaire and gorgeous Cyd Charrise. A brilliant piece of casting .

Ohh, my gosh.
I think that the beast
with the 5 fingers
got even with the box work
too. [Big Grin]

But I guess, Bridge over troubled
River Kwai Waters which was sung
by Simon and Garfinkle and originally
released by Columbia Records,
makes it OK to Juxtapose both
titles [Big Grin]

...er,.... or was that Koo, ku, ca-choo,
Mrs. Robinson, and not to be confused
with the dance of the Ku-Ku's with Laurel & Hardy.

Still cant see the conection with Simon and Garfunkel, still thinking though [Roll Eyes]

its been a long weekend in the projection room so I am enjoying The Sound Of Silence [Smile]

was pleased to be Homeward Bound, last night. Oh Art Garfunkel did a concert here a few years ago in the town hall, absolutely brilliant [Smile]

even had his son doing a solo number, best concert ever,well still thinking. [Roll Eyes]

Paul, I haven't seen "Silk Stockings" in years. Now I'm on the
lookout!

Michael, "Tyme to blow the bridge?" Absolutely hilarious!

Graham, I'm assuming that whoever is responsible for this mistake combined "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with "Bridge On The River Kwai" and ended up with our strangely named digest. And yes, Art Garfunkel has one of the greatest voices ever in pop music.

So.....does anyone know of any other gaffes?

Wow..I didn't get the benefit of that Beast with Five Fingers box. I bought mine early on in standard 8 when the UA boxes were just a tan box with a black and white still on them...and it was spelled correctly there.
other errors I've caught. I recently bought a 16mm print of the Charlie Chan film, The Shanghai Cobra.....but it had a replaced title which remarkably got Shanghai spelled right , but listed Sidney Toler as Sydney Toyler.

And of course, in the Ken one reel Son of Kong, the subtitles call the gorilla a " guerilla." I used to notice other mistakes , but it's been so long since I watched those silent cutdowns, I can't remember them.
