Hi all,
I have finally completed the splicing of all available footage in order to create the ultimate Star Wars cut-down.
I am about to re-record the sound using the excellent THX laserdisc as a source but I would love to put the voice over comment that was heard at the beginning of Ken's first 400ft.

Any of you, with a strong booming voice (US trailer style), and some correct recording equipment (a DV camera works fine, if you can isolate the sound and convert it to mp3 or .wav) feel like doing it?

The text is :

A long time ago in a Galaxy far, far away.
It is a period of Civil War.
Rebel spaceships striking from a hidden base have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.
Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents, Princess Leia races home with stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the Galaxy...

final voice track shouldn't exceed 20 seconds

Please let me know...

Suggest you try two things.....

1. Contact George Bettinger in Florida through Steve Osborne in the USA. George is a known comedian and voice over specialist. He also sells super 8 stuff from time to time.

2. Visit www.Scottchapin.com - a known voice over announcer - he is the voice for major new outlets across the country incoluding Fox and Channel 7 affiliates. He won't come cheap, but I am sure he can help you.

Chip: thanks for the tips but, as you might have guessed, I have no budget line for this item. [Wink]
Joe, I was kind of hoping you would answer... Can you help?

Two soundtrack albums were released from "Star Wars" in 1977. One was the excellent John Williams score but the other was a story album with scenes from the movie and narration by Roscoe Lee Browne. The album starts with the "Star Wars" theme and Roscoe speaking the lines of the introduction. Sadly my copy is long gone but you may find it out there somewhere for download.

Paul.

Paul, I have both albums. I even have one spare Lp of "The Story of Star Wars" for sale on Ebay. But this isn't what I'm after. I'm doing the V.O. myself for the French version. Just need someone in the US who could record the voice track for the English version.
