Years ago there was a company based
in Georgia, USA and it was named Filmagic.

Filmagic produced a liquid lubricant, along with
silicone wipe cloths that were known as Surfaset.

Is there anyone that has background information
regarding this product, and the contents?
I was wondering if it was truly silicone
and if it was, would it have had a detrimental
effect on film.

I used it years ago and found that aside from
the application instructions that stated that
it should be used moderately, instead if it
was used sparingly I was able to achieve
better results. After a liquid topical condition
it was recommended to use the matching
silicone impregnated wipe cloths to remove
and buff the film of excess lubricant.

If it is silicone, is that detrimental to film?
Does anyone know if in the long term if
the Surfaset would not permit the film to
breathe and thus causing film breakdown?

I have a small amount left in a bottle and
not sure if I should continue to use it?

I used this on many films in the early 70's, they all play back fine...no deteriation.
