I just recently bought (thanks Alan, great print) a print of "The Takedown" which was released by Disney release company, "Buena Vista", and along wih a lot of thier releases in the 70's, they tended to release one of thier cartoons with them.

I only have two of thier optical sound Disney cartoons, "Knight for a Day" and "Trailer Horn" (a rare super 8mm Disney sound release, whether optical or mag sound). As with thier mag sound super 8mm releases, these have a sharpness that is to die for.

Ohhh, if only every studio took this kind of care with thier releases!

Osi, the cinema chain I worked with here in the early 1980's still released a Disney cartoon and short with every feature. Even when it was the new Disney with films like Tex; they had a short and old cartoon re-issued.

I just watched Goofy's Golden Gags Pt 2 last night (thanks Steve Osborne) and the print is just so sharp. So is The Old Mill and other Disney cartoons I have.

But it does make sense as they were using thier own original negatives for these releases.

Does anybody know thefilm labs that were used stateside for the Disney vintage releases (pre-Derann)? I already know that at least "Buck" film labs did a number of Disney's vinatge releases.
