I've just had in a piece of kit from Braun, it's a Black metal box, and looking at the bottom of the unit there is a manufacturers label that says Braun AG Frankfurt/M Typ: visacustic steueergerat, also on the bottom is a little switch which says bild/impuls 1/1 or 4/1. On the front of the unit there is a word that says impulskabel which is above 2 types of pin inputs, next to that are 3 little lights (2 red and 1 green) which have a - & +. Now we have a row of 3 buttons which read speicher ('reset' in English below), impulse & manuell . Then we have control that looks like a volume control, it has a dot on it, there is a 0 on the left and a + on the right, and above the control it says b/sec . Next is what looks like a kind of slide control, this has a + & - , and obove this is the word projektor . Next is a push button control that says aufnahme (in English below 'automatic'). Then there is what looks like a panel with red display lights, then there are 2 more buttons that state zahler (in English underneath 'reset'), then the other button says bilder BUTTON OUT & impulse BUTTON IN. The unit has a 6 pin lead which I presume goes into the projector, and of course a power lead.

I have never seen one of these units before, and I wonder if anyone either has one thereselves or knows what it is, and what its actual use is. Until I have more information, I'm not to sure how to list it for sale, or what price to ask. I know there are a lot of knowledgable collectors out there, so some help please.

Barry

It's the "Braun Visacustic Control Unit". With this owners of a Nizo camera can have synchronised sound recording. Pulses from the camera are used by the control unit for synchronised replay or for transfer onto the projector's magnetic track.

Obviously only of use for the two specified types of camera and projector.

Two left sockets are for connecting to a tape recorder. Then Reset button for the electronic pulse memory. "Impulse" refers to the 1000Hz pulses. "Manual" frees the projector from pulse functions. The rotary control is projector speed from 0 fps to 28 fps at synchronised points. Rocker switch is for corrections due to faulty pulses or damages in tape editing. The automatic control button helps to add further sound. Then there is a six-digit LED counter for frames or pulses and a reset button.

Hope this helps you and any prospective purchaser.

Love the projector.

Maurice,

Thanks for the information, so now we know what it is, is anyone interested in this unit, even if it's just as a talking point for the completionist collector (you know the person who has to have one of everything, you know who you are!). If anyone would like to make me an offer (it would have to be sold as seen, as I have no way of testing it), then email me at indi8films@aol.com .
