Hopefully someone can help me on this, i have bought a replacement worm gear for a Braun Visacustic 2000 digital projector from Wittner that needs to be replaced. Can anyone tell me what tool i need to unscrew this from the shaft so that i can replace the worm gear with the new one?

I thought it would be a standard metric allen key fitting but have since found out it is completely round, so i am baffled in what i should do to get this off the shaft.

Thanks in advance!

Robert, you need a 1.5mm hex key.
It is a bit of fiddling to get it unscrewed, especially when the screw got stuck because of age.
I got the Wittner worm gear too, but prefer the worm gear made by De Snek.

Hi Hans,

Yes you could say it was a bit of a job but i finally removed the old worm gear, which broke into bits when i took it off last night. I have now fitted the new part, which i have also greased. All i need to do now is put the motor back and we should be in business.

Many thanks for your input and kind help as it's much appreciated.

You're welcome.

My old wormgear fel apart too when I removed it.
Even when the wormgear has an almost invisible crack, the projector will run unevenly.
With a good wormgear, the Visacustic is surely one of my favorite projectors.
