I have got a Kodak Moviedeck projector (445) it doesn't work. I know these projectors are difficult to repair, but does anyone have a repair manual, if so please help.

My very first projector was (and still is) a 447 Moviedeck. About 8 years ago it went from my only machine to semi-retirement, but it still gets honest work here and there, especially since none of my sound machines can show regular-8.

Maybe I can help. What is/isn't it doing?

I'm at a disadvantage here because my Moviedeck has never died on me, but maybe I can help. This sounds like some power supply problem. Since nothing works at all, it's the best possibility.

If you are good with an ohmmeter it would be useful to start by measuring the resistance between the two prongs of the power plug when you move the selector knob around. If it’s infinite and stays that way, then you can be sure it’s an open connection or the fuse.

There are five small hex head bolts on the bottom of the machine. I think if you remove these the bottom will come off. There has to be some sort of fuse in there, but it isn't externally accessible. If the fuse is blown sometimes it's just an old fuse, sometimes it's because something in there has shorted and the fuse blows so you won’t burn your neighborhood down. If you replace it and the new one blows, then you know. If it's not the fuse something isn't connecting somewhere. Something is broken, or oxidized, or loose. It should be on the power cord side of the internal power transformer or something (lamp or motor) would still work.

When you finish, a thorough cleaning is a good idea. There's bound to be a jungle of dust in there by now and the film path will need to be cleaned too.
