Seen this advertised recently, but don't really know anything about this model. It's supposed to be a dual machine for Super 8, Standard 8 and, of course, Single 8.

I am really wondering about the method of swapping between the 2 formats. Does anyone know if it uses interchangeable sprockets and gate, or does it merely have a "universal" sprocket and gate arrangement - "all things to all men"?

I'm thinking it could be an alternative to the Eumig range of high-end dual machines!?!?!?

In the meantime I am awaiting a response from the seller.

Cheers,

David, The Elmo SC18 is super/single 8 only. The electronics etc are based on the ST600/180 machine.

You wont be able to use your std 8 film on it.

Kev.

Thanks Kevin.

I checked Jurgen Lossau's famous projector book, which also stated that it was super 8 only, but the seller of this item reckons it was a dual gauge machine. I did wonder if it was an error or misprint in the book. Clearly another of those people who doesn't know what they are are talking about. I was a bit sceptical, but now you have confirmed what I needed to know.

Kindest regards,

Perhaps the vendor thinks Super 8 and Single 8 are different formats and is says somewhere on the packaging it is suitable for both.

I just bought one myself for 25 GBP. It does not run, but when my belt arrive, I'll know if it runs. Nice for daylight projection
