We never discus Sankyoscope, what do you think of its performance?

I found one sold at Ebay at very OK price:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Sankyo-Sankyoscope-anamorphic-lens-for-8mm-projectors _W0QQitemZ250508889324

$20.49!!!

Unfortunately I found this after being sold.

Below are pictures of the lens for reference/archive purposes in case the above link has been removed after 90 days of auction.

This lens, like many others from the 1960s, were a 1.5 compression ratio which gives you about a 2:1 aspect ratio. Fine if you're shooting and showing the film yourself, but Cinemascope prints are 2x, so the lens won't work for commercial scope prints.

Various others of this type were sold by Bolex and Vistascope (Old Delft). Bolex in both 8mm and 16mm were 1.5x. Vistascope had a 2x 16mm lens for Cinemascope which can be determined by a number on the bottom of the lens.

While I have a similar lens (Yashiascope), I've never used it for projection so I can't attest to it's sharpness. The lens diameter is too small to use on a zoom lens so you're limited to a fixed focus focal length lens for photography.
