Picked-up a SR9500 last weekend, and the manual claims that the machine is Dual-8, though there is nothing there about how to make that happen with 8mm/adjustments, etc. I suppose it might need to be calibrated, but I have no Super-8 to try in lieu of 8. I really don't need anything more than a simple silent machine with a common bulb at this point- Trying to make this one work until I find another machine. Anyone have experience with this one?

Thanks in advance,

JBG

I don't know this particular number, but it is probably the same as a wide range of Hanimexs (and other badged names) where the only change from Standard to Super 8 is effected by a single slide switch close to the gate assy, which changes the aperture and controls claw entry point. The sprockets accept either size film.
This breed of machines can easily scratch film unless the plastic loading guides and shutes are kept very clean.

Thanks, Martin.

I'm not seeing it on this machine, though it's good to know for future reference. Thanks.

Can anyone clear-up a similar question about the ST-1200HD? Some ebayer's claim it's Dual-8, (which I doubt), and I've read some posts that dispute that. I have one that needs overhaul/needs home, but I'd like to file that info away also.

Hi Beryl,

ST-1200HD is Super-8 only. I have one and there is no mechanism inside to convert the format.

Years and years ago we had a picture on this forum of a really funky modified Elmo ST-600 that was Regular-8 (and silent), but generally speaking the STs and the GSs were all Super-8 only.

Thanks, Steve.
Pretty much what I figured.

Wikipedia is bad, ebay is much, much worse when it comes to info from junk-hounds.

Beryl, as far as I know all the Hanimex SR9500 projectors were Super 8 and Single 8, but not standard 8.

There are many of them here as Hanimex were/are an Australian company and they were sold in many retail outlets.

Of course, David!
I should have realised that it's the old confusion of SINGLE 8/ SUPER 8 being actually the same gauge.
