I was asleep at the half-reel way when projecting 1 600" film. To start from the beginning was little tiring.

I was using GS-800 so I manually put the left half reel into the projector's path and start re-playing again.

Picture was OK, just like usual.

However, is it safe for the projector as well as the film (scratch issue, perhaps?)

your comment please,

I've done this several times with my 400' with cartoons. I just "fast-forward" without threading to the cartoon I wanna watch, then manually thread from there and watch.

Never had problems [Smile]

The idea of starting up that pinch roller and flyweel with footage that actually has a picture on it has always kind-of bothered me, but I've never seen any picture damage when I've had stop and re-start. ("STEEEVE!! THERE"S A PHONE CALL FOR YOUUUUU!!!")

(There's a clutch in there so the flywheel can get up to speed gradually without dragging the roller on the film.)

I guess the claw would have to slide along the film base until it finds sprocket holes to grab. This would make a mark, but outside the picture area.

I haven't done it lately, but used to do it all the time back in the 1970s and 80s with no problems...but I always allowed some cool off time for the lamp before stopping the film.

I've done it successfully too, but I wouldn't risk it with a prized print, in case I went wrong somewhere!
