Was the Derann release in stereo?
How was the quality?

My print has outstanding sharpness...especially considering it's masked somewhat to give the original aspect ratio. color is dead on. Some scenes might be a bit dark, but not bad....my sound is stereo and very good.

One of my top ten prints!

.....which reminds me of a certain film critic who bestowed the line "one of the top ten films of the year" on 14 films that particular year.

I was delighted with mine. I can't recall the separation between the two channels being all that obvious, though.

I know that around this time, if reels with substandard stereo were returned, Derann had to turn them into mono prints, which could explain Rik's.

I have a first run print of this title and although I re-recorded the sound years ago I can report that the original Derann stereo track was the best I'd heard up to that time. Of course having genuine Kodak stripe probably helped but it did display a bit of Dolby Stereo decoding in places.

My second print still had very good sound but not as good as the original print. Re-recorded that as well.

Both prints are very similar but the first run print does not have the wear and neg dust of the later print. Picture quality was never brilliant on this title but it is good.
