Hello:

Was wondering if anyone could recommend some 8mm variable speed projectors for doing transfers to video, and, for good general viewing of non sound non Super 8 film? Perhaps some of the more common models that parts are not too hard to come by? Thanks!

A very suitable projector is the Sankyo Dualux 2000H. It will run both Super 8 and Regular (Standard) 8. The variable speed function is ideal for video transfer.

Thanks for the reply. The Sankyo Dualux 2000H does look like a nice projector. They seem to be popular, and I see there have been some on eBay. Thank you for the suggestion.

From what the wiki says:

quote:

Sankyo Dualux 2000 H
marketed in 1969-70

standard 8 mm \ super 8 mm film

format change: auto, by lever

lens: Sankyo Zoom f: 1.4 \ F: 15-25 mm

lamp: 100 W, 12 V, EFP

reel capacity: 120 m

projection: forward, reverse, still

projection speed: 5-7, 14-22 fps

variable speed control: by rheostat

film loading: automatic threading

why 22 fps? it needs another 2 fps more for showing our films?... any reason for this?

cheersm

It is not designed for sound films which run at 24 fps.
