Does any forum members know how the lens is removed on the Kodak Brownie 8mm projectors?
I have both the Super 8 & Standard 8 version of these but can't figure out why the lens wont come out for cleaning & checking.
Despite their simple appearance, I have tried all manner of twisting & coaxing but they don't want come out for inspection.
The Kodak manual says nothing at all about the lens except how to focus.

Hope some member knows what to do. This is absurd.

Hi Martin
Yes its the A15G
Since making the post earlier tonight, I have gone back into the manual & found some instructions to remove the lens. I havent attempted to do it yet as its late at night here. However, please go ahead with the instructions if you are familiar with them & tommorow I will attempt it.

This is the A15M, standard eight.Presumably the "G" is similar.
1. Push the focus lever to top of slot (Lens fully forward)
2. Pull gate pressure lever (Below lens) fully forward and lock in position.
3. Now take the lens mounting block in the right hand, thumb at bottom, fingers at top, and push towards the gate (to the left).
It will slide a short distance and then be free to lift towards you.
4. Press the red disc out of the lever with your fingers and the lens is then free. (But mark the position of the lever on the lens barrel in case you rotate it accidentally while it's out)
DONE.
Martin.

Hi Martin
This morning I finally got around to trying to remove the lenses on 2 kodak brownies that are here. One is an M-55L & is Super 8. The Regular 8 is A15G.
I had tried a few times without success but this time it worked & they came off as per your instructions. Was able to inspect and clean the lenses & the film gate.
What a tricky little setup it is? Lucky I hadn't forced it off earlier as some sliding plastic part would have broken.
So thanks Martin. My 7 yr old Grandaughter will now be shown how its done. They are both hers. She loves to run them & often demands to see her projectors & make sure that I havent sold them. She is the youngest projectionist I know & very keen. I think I will leave my Pathe collection to her when its time to go.
