Hi all,
I have a Dralowid III/8 standard 8mm projector that looks in a fairly good condition although it does need a bit of maintaince , I have searched google and found no infomation on it, it is from the 50's, anyone heard of that brand?

I did find this very brief piece of info -

Dralowid-Werke/Steatit Magnesia AG, Porz & Berlin, Germany

Dralowid III/8 1950 projector 8mm, lens Dralotar III 1.4/22mm(Usually in green coloured case, but exceptionally in blue, or red case)
Mine is in the green case.

The projector in a case!

According to Jurgen Lossau's terrific book Movie Projectors, Dralowid (in Teltow, near Berlin) started manufacturing 8mm projectors in 1937. In 1950 they moved to Porz and introduced the III/8 as the first portable projector, at a price of $50. Made mostly of plastic, it came with a 22mm f1.4 lens, a 15v 60w bulb and could take up to 200' reels. The wood case brought the weight up to 11 lbs. The company folded approximately a decade later.
The rare model is the II/8, manufactured in 1938.

Hi Clinton

In my manual collection I have found an original instruction manual for a Dralowid III/8.

It is a complete 8 page owners instruction manual with a lot of technical info about the Dralowid III/8 movie projector and intructions on how to operate it. Labeled "second edition" it is in very delicate condition and so has been stored in a plastic pocket to preserve it.

I could carefully scan this manual and send a free pdf copy to the members if they are interested. I don't think there are many copies of this manual still in existance as the paper is real thin and they would have mostly disintegrated.

Will guage the members response before going ahead with a scan attempt.
