Here's a question for all those technically proficient folks on this forum ...

I had read quite a few years ago that when optical sound super 8 were processed for those cartridges, (for airlines or otherwise), a very thin layer of wax would be applied, and this was in order to help the films slide through these cartridges a little easier.

Now, I know that wax, over a period of many years, has a tendecy to discolor. For instance, wax candles that were once a brilliant white can become off white or even orange-ish.

The question is ...

If this very slight layer could be removed from these optical super 8 prints (without harming the film, mind you) would this do at least some good in fixing color problems, as perhaps some of the color loss is really wax aging?
