Don't need the best, just one that works(cheep). I only have 2-400 films with sound. Anyone willing to make an educated guess?

Hi Bruce,

If you need a projector that can play Regular 8mm Sound then a Eumig 810D would be quite suitable and they are one of the very few brands that is a dual 8mm Sound and so can play all 8mm sound films. The 800 series included the 802D, 807D, 810D and the last version was the brilliant 824D.

Any of these should be fine to use for 8mm sound films. The later the model the better. Make sure its been tested and serviced before putting your films through it. These machines can be unforgiving on poor quality film with damaged sprocket holes or poor splicing.

Dear bruce, Franky is right in recommending the EUMIG machines
I personally would advise the old MARK S projectors inc the S709
which also handles s/8.The reason I would advise these proj. is
because they are reliable,kind to film they won't scratch,are very
cheap on replacement lamps which are very common and are
semi auto thread.I have four of these projectors, the S709 was bought in 1971 and is still showing film the other three were
obtained later on, still show film but these were built in the '60s
and still perform well.The late Ivan Watsonof "Movie Maker" fame christened EUMIG
"The Wizards of Vienna" and no wonder they are a testament
to great workmanship and I've no doubt will outlast us.You
should pick one of these up for about £25.00.Hope I've been

Thanks to : Frank--Berry --Hugh -- I'll look around for a Eumig
810d but will not rule out the 802d or 807d. The projector will be used for regular 8mm sound. The hope is to find something under $150.00. I'm in no hurry, however, if the right projector comes up---- Will keep a sharp lookout. Thanks to all.

Thanks Akshay: I am now the owner of a Eumig 810d. Or at least I think I am. John is off some where in Bova Bova. Well any way I sent the payment to some one. Right in the middle of the transaction we had a blip in the power. Never a dull moment!!
