Hi All,

I am hoping someone can help me. My Sankyo projector lamp comes on in reverse mode but not in forward mode. I should point out that I haven't used it in over 20 years. ( I just replaced the motor belt to get it running.) I can watch a movie in reverse mode. Is it possible that the lamp needs replacement or is something else preventing the lamp from coming on in forward mode?

Thanks,

LRK

If it worked ok before you put it away 20 years ago, it may be a corrosion issue. With the unit unplugged, switch it back and forth from the forward position multiple times and then give it a try.

Thanks, Barry for replying. I tried your suggestion but the lamp does not come on in forward. Also there is no apparent evidence of any corrosion. The projector was stored in its original box in a dark dry closet.
Any other thoughts?

Hi Louis

Sounds like the function selector switch is faulty. If you manage to find another good switch to use it is still quite a job to swap them over. There is a fair bit to dismantle & many wires to swap over.
Good luck looking for a selector switch that works properly.

Hello Louis,

I have selector switches for the Sankyo 1000 if you need one, but as Frank mentioned, changing it is a major undertaking even with a diagram.

Hi Frank & Jon,

Thanks for your replies. I need to think this through - do I really have the ability to take on this repair?

Jon, if I decide to pursue the task I will get in touch regarding the switch.

Again, thanks for your input.
