I found this listing (now ended):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JAWS-super-8-FULL-FEATURE- in-SCOPE-2x1200-RARE-LOW-FADE-/170813366943?pt=US_Film&hash=item27c545229f

It was firstly offered as a complete feature but later the seller revised it by saying:

quote:
OK so this I just found out from a collector and its something I didn't even notice until I double checked myself. This film is missing an entire reel. About 20 minutes of the film to be exact. The reel that is missing is about 40 minutes into the movie. The missing reel begins with Chief Brody waiting the visit of Hooper ( minute 37 on DVD ) and his little son imitating him. The missing reel ends with with chief Brody asking to his son not to go playing on the sea but well in the pond. Please be aware that with the new findings on this film that it will be sold AS-IS! I apologize for any misleading this may have caused. I feel really bad I did not find this out sooner...
Reading the above revision had made me wonder that I read the same statement somewhere in this forum before and voila... JC has once offered the same title here:

http://8mmforum.film-tech.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=003355

and he says:

quote:
The film is in fact in 7 reels. So there is one reel that is missing. The missing reel begin with Chief Brody waiting the visit of Hooper ( minute 37 on DVD ) and his little son imitating him. The missing reel end with with chief Brody asking to his son not to go playing on the sea but well in the pond (minute 54 on DVD).

Because there is only one reply made by Larry in the above thread then my assumption is Larry bought the print. But this is not necessarily, could be someone else, that I don't know.

But in very short time gap between the forum offer and Ebay listing what is the connection between them? I know the Ebay listing did not belong to Larry as he is "stopmo" in Ebay.

Can two same prints have very exact same problem? I don't say it is impossible. But if it is the same print offered in this forum then the seller's Ebay above revision about the missing reel by saying:

quote:
something I didn't even notice .....I feel really bad I did not find this out sooner...
make me double wonder what is going on?.

I know the Ebay seller is also member of this forum, so he may explain here too.

I bid on the original listing on this one, Winbert. After many questions and answers, more and more information was revealed about the print. Once the revelation about some of the front titles missing, and replaced with U8 footage, I canceled my bid. The seller has since ended the first auction, and relisted, now with the 'missing reel' issue'. Still, at $250, that's too much for something that has 20 minutes of missing footage, lines, etc.

That is very strange Greg. Because the front title missing was also mentioned on JC thread. So this must be the very same print. But why he first time listed it as he did know nothing?

Yes I was watching this film as well then I realized it was the same print that was offered here on the forum. I thought Larry purchased it as well but then realized by the seller name it wasn't him.
Strange the information wasn't placed on the film at the time of the listing.

So, who is "moviesdirectorman"?

I don't know.... he never gave a name on our exchanges.

I think it is a little high as well, has some scratch issues. However, if it has all the excitement and just the slow parts without the action are gone, if the fellow lowers the price further, it might be a good buy. At least it does appear to have good color!

Guys, it is easy to find who is "moviedirectorman".

But I prefer he comes up here and to explain.

If he is not doing that in a couple days, I can tell should other members want to know.

What is this some sort of lynch hunt? Yes its me. Yes I bought the print recently sold on this forum. I was dissatisfied with the quality when I received it. So I figured id sell it. I did not mean to mislead anyone. I pulled the original listing because I felt I wasn't being honest about the print. I have since re-listed it and am being fully honest about it. I don't see why its such a big deal. You guys act like I'm breaking a commandment by selling the print or something. I'm not trying to screw anyone over. I apologizes to anyone that I may have misled.

Adam-Was there anything else you were dissatisfied about concerning this print outside of the titles and missing reel?

Re: Reselling prints received as Adam has done. I've done this plenty of times with prints I'm dissatisfied with.

Yes it's all beginning to fall into place, what with our Winbert's
sleuthing around on ebay, his interest in "Poirot" episodes,I think
he could be contemplating a move to St.Mary Mead or Cabot Cove
but there's no truth in the rumour that he has placed a bid on
221b Baker Street.

Very nice scope images Adam. Looking at the colors and quality of the print, it looks well worth what you are asking. Good luck with the sale.

James.
