I know this is nessesary for proper loading but how many of you re-trim your films before re-watching them? is that really nessesary to trim each time I know it can get damaged by threading? Just curious I have recieved films that have an inch of leader left. [Confused]

Nah, not every time. I don't think there's a need to. If the end looks OK, I go with it.

Jim,
When I get a new film I always trim it to run in my Elmo 1200HD
All my films have been trimmed only once and I have never had to re-trim them ever again once they have been trimmed already. [Smile]

I have found to my cost , that it depends on which projector you are using!! Its the curse of self threading projectors!!! My advice is always have a good lenght of white threading leader attached and do not rely on the printed leader of the film or you are asking for trouble. To my mind its a pity self threading machines were ever invented. Ken Finch.

It would have be simple if all the projectors had the same trimmer. Only , all projectors don't accept the same cut in the sel threading. A pity they nevr got a standard for self threading.
