I've inherited a Eumig P8 automatic (1962?) with some family films. I've read the pdf manual but I can't seem to get any drive to the sprockets. I have power and light, but nothing is going round. Is there a master drive belt which could be broken, or am I missing something with the knobs?

Probably heresy on here but I'd like to view the films before deciding which to put on DVD. If someone could lend me a projector they'd be welcome to the Eumig and Cinekon editor in exchange as rent

Paul

Open it up and you will probably see the drive belt from the motor to the mech in pieces. They never did last very long.

At one time I used to buy the rubber rings from the top of the Kilner preserving jars for my P8 Imperial. They were just the right size and so much cheaper.

As you will probably be aware Paul, the P8 can deliver film from either top or bottom from the feed reel but must be fed to the top of the take up reel rather than the bottom. Also the little lever on the lens assembly must be facing left in order for the reels to turn. If these things are satisfactory, then it probably does need a new belt. I got mine from E.S photographics, who advertise on Ebay, and it works perfectly. Lastly, Feel free to PM me if you need help with the transfer.

I forgot to mention..The kilner jar band sounds like a good idea, but be careful if you go delving inside the machine, as it's pretty much all live inside there. Definitely a "Power off" job if you decide to have a go.
