Just tried to use it tonight and it will not load the film when i have it in the auto load mode only the take up reel go's around but nothing else. When i put in in rewind it works and all the sprockets work just not working in the forward mode any ideas anyone.
Barry.

I haven't played with my SS1200 in a while but I recall there being an autostart function. Is that button depressed at the back of the machine?

Failing that Bill Parsons or John White should be able to repair it for you.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply i have been working on it all day some times it runs, And then when i put it in rev it runs fine and then back into play all i get is the take up reel and no sprocket drive i think it must be a cam switch or a micro switch.
Barry.

Sounds like a micro switch. A lot of the cheaper Chinons used a lot of the same parts so getting it repaired by one of the professionals I listed shouldn't be a problem. If you can find one of the cheaper twin track Chinons then it may be worth checking it out for the future longevity of your SS1200 as it may be made up of the same parts.

Great re-recording machine the SS1200. Although beware, as things wear the speed doesn't remain constant like it did when new.
