As only one member answered my earlier question I am asking Hugh for some more advice.

With my Fumeo 9119 I normally use an Elmo 1200' take-up spool, this has a diameter of 12.1" (308mm) and weighs 12.5oz (350g). This spool is large enough for the films that I run.

Should I use my Fumeo spool? This has an o/d of 16" (407mm) and weighs in at 25.5oz (910g), even with its 72 (2 x 36) round holes!

Is perhaps the take-up only designed for this big Fumeo spool, and should I always use it, irrespective of the film length being shown?

I must thank a member who sent me a PM with details of Fumeo spools for sale.

Hi Maurice,

you may use whatever spool you want with the Fumeo, considering the fact that you may adjust the tension according to the spool you have.

You can use any size spool you want Maurice as Fabrizio has said, up to
the max, which is the one I use the 2500'.I'm not sure if the
original Fumeo spool was slightly larger than this. However, there's
no chance of straining the motor, as they were built for this
very purpose.
